So, you've booked a consultation with your wedding florist...  but what next?!

Some couples can be unsure about what they need to share with their wedding florist on their initial meeting. This little guide should give you some tips on what’s important for your florist to know and what not to worry about.

Here are my top 5 things to share with your florist, they're a great starting point for figuring out how to make your dream wedding into reality!

1. What's your vibe?

Begin by sharing your wedding theme with your florist. Whether you're envisioning a rustic outdoor celebration or a glamorous ballroom affair, the theme will influence the choice of flowers and overall design. If you struggle with verbalising this then Pinterest is a really good tool to help with narrowing down ideas. Don’t worry if your Pinterest board is a mixture of themes. A good florist can cut through this and help you merge your ideas, so you reach a design that truly reflects you and your likes.

2. What's your colour palette?

A colour palette is a really good starting point for florals and we can work tonally or use contrasting colours to emphasise the overall effect you are after for your wedding flowers. A good way to choose a colour palette is to find a colour that ties in with bridesmaid dresses or the overall venue décor and work from there.

3. What’s your budget?

Discussing your budget upfront is essential to ensure that your floral arrangements align with your financial plan. Be transparent about your budgetary constraints and allow your florist to suggest cost-effective options without compromising on style.

Be open minded to your florists’ suggestions. Having done many weddings before we know the most impactful spaces to add flowers and the small bits to not bother with.

4. Let us know any flowers you love and hate!

We will always try to accommodate any flowers you love and any that have special meanings or memories for you while considering what is in season and readily available at the time of year you are getting married. In cases where that isn’t possible then trust your florist's expertise in recommending seasonal alternatives that achieve a similar look and feel. On a side note, (and another blog post) remember that seasonal does not mean cheaper. It just means its more easily available and better quality.

5. The details:

Logistics are a huge part of floristry and are one of the biggest things that can affect the cost of your flowers.

Knowing things such as

·       The number of guests attending

·       The time of the wedding

·       Where wedding prep will be taking place

·       Which room the ceremony/reception will be in

·       What time you have access to the venue from on the day or day before

·       Table layout in the reception space.

·       What time clear down is

Can help us suggest ideas for you and quote you more efficiently.
