Alex & Rob - Real Wedding

Great Cheverell Church & Marquee Reception at home.

Let’s go all the way back to dreamy Summer August weekends filled with hazy sunshine and light breezes when Alex & Rob got married.

Upon meeting Alex, I found she was a huge lover of flowers and quite knowledgeable about different types. However, this made it harder for her to choose what she wanted as she just loved everything.

After a million email exchanges based on colour scheme and flower type Alex decided that she would just let me make the final decision and just asked that it could fit her pastel scheme she wanted.

So, using the very best of seasonal blooms local growers and foraged finds I managed to put together a scheme that probably contained 30 different flower and foliage types, giving Alex as much variety as we possibly could in her arrangements.

Our biggest dilemma was that for the Reception Alex & Rob had a huge marquee from Honeycomb Marquees that needed filling with décor to stop it feeling bare. Initially they wanted hoops coming down from the ceiling. As much as I love hoops it is really hard to find a hoop that is both large enough to fill a space and lightweight. I always worry that once you get all your arrangements on it you have doubled the weight of it and you effectively have this large mass hanging over you and your guests from what is only a tent. Although I know it can be done with rigs and pulleys etc. I was very relieved when we came up with the more natural and effective option of placing large branches around the marquee to mimic a tree which tied in beautifully for the couples scheme on their stationary.

We both agreed something was needed for the entrance of the marquee and an asymmetric arch/ column were made to greet people. When setting this up the day before Alex sent her Mum out with some friends who magically came back with masses of greenery and wild hops.

Table centers contained mixes of various bottles/vessels and dessert dishes that Alex & Rob had collected throughout the year and the top table had meadows placed from the church infront of it. Alex and her bridesmaids also got in on the floral action the day before and made their own greenery backdrop from various tree branches. The result from the photos looked as if the top table were sat in their very own English Garden for the wedding breakfast. Alex & Rob did a great job sourcing subtle coloured linens and pastel candle sticks for their tables which worked at adding some extra colour to the white marquee.
